Streamlined silhouettes and monogram looks dominate street style at Milan Men's Fashion Week.

Though the runways and parties are the main events,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/street-style">street style</a>&nbsp;during fashion week is always an indicator of what is trending or what will soon dominate. During men's Milan Fashion Week in January, one&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lofficielusa.com/tags/trend">trend</a>&nbsp;reigned supreme: The infamous and quizzically alluring male archetype of Patrick Bateman stood out most.&nbsp;
The vibrantly creative world of fashion in Italy usually seems like it inspires sartorial choices across the pond. But rather than an Italian elegance, showgoers seemed to channel energy from Lower Manhattan's Financial District streets. Guests channeled Wall Street's favorite villain through impeccable suits and lots of neutral tones in Milan. In the film&nbsp;American Psycho,&nbsp;Bateman is incredibly, if not terrifyingly diligent in the craftmanship of his outfits. Everything is perfectly tailored, and the loudest aspect about any of his looks could be the pinstripes on his suit or the Rolex glued to his wrist. The men in Milan have taken the outline of the 20th-century financier and given it a modern take, which we are sure to see continue trending in the coming months.

Showstoppers in Milan, however, added a twist to the&nbsp;American Psycho&nbsp;fashion look through the inclusion of softer colors like beige and other cream tones. Plenty of our favorite street style looks from Milan were monochrome ensembles centered around pale brown, cream, or white. Monochrome sweatsuits had a moment in Milan street style, stepping out of the Bateman wardrobe. We also noticed louder colored outfits, like a cherry-red look topped with a brown leather jacket.
If Milan's men captured on the street weren't sporting some iteration of a classic double-breasted jacket, leather bombers were the second choice. They were often paired with slacks and streamlined tailoring that gave the feeling of office wear rather than a biker gang.
If the office siren were a man, that man would be Patrick Bateman, and the men of Milan Fashion Week nailed this look with flying colors.
