If there’s one thing that all Filipinos can agree on, it is the love for great music. A love so deep that it has manifested into this loud, melodious energy that eventually made Filipinos known as the ‘best singers and loudest crowd’ in concerts—a title that Adam Levine uttered at his band’s most recent concert here in Manila.

Last January 29, Maroon 5 returned to the Philippines to kick off their Asia 2025 tour, co-presented by Live Nation Philippines, Tourism Promotions Board, and the Philippine Department of Tourism. Adam Levine (lead vocals), James Valentine (guitar), PJ Morton (keyboard), Sam Farrar (bass), Jesse Carmichael (keyboard), and Matt Flynn (drums) took the stage at the SM Mall of Asia Arena for the fourth time, performing the band’s classic hits for the energized crowd at their sold-out Manila stop.

Dressed in their best clothes, the audience quickly filled the arena in high spirits. From solo attendees to groups of friends and families, everyone all looked forward to the same thing, a promised night of feel-good music and grooves.

The evening began with an invigorating performance from Culture Wars as they sang a few songs from their discography including “Lies”, “Slowly”, “Wasting My Time” and their latest release “It Hurts”, further amping up the audience’s already animated energy. Their act was then followed by a thrilling set by DJ Mailbox who filled the arena with energizing beats to keep the crowd’s energy alive.

Each minute was spent with sheer excitement as the crowd anticipated for the main act. And with the lights still dimmed, the band appeared. It was right then and there, with the first strike of thundering beats, shades of red lit up the main stage and filled the arena, giving everyone a clear view of the band that everyone has been waiting for.

Wasting no time, Maroon 5 started with a banging performance of “Animals”, which undoubtedly set the energetic tone of the whole show. The opening song was then quickly followed by “One More Night” and “This Love”, transforming the audience into a sea of voices singing along to the band’s familiar tunes.

Adam Levine and James Valentine also serenaded the crowd with an acoustic rendition of “She Will Be Loved” and “Memories”, turning the performances into a beautiful duet between the band and the audience. Sharing an evening of energetic and romantic tunes, the setlist was a mix of their classic hits and modern tracks, including “Stereo Hearts”, “Harder to Breathe”, “Lucky Strike”, “Sunday Morning”, “Payphone”, “What Lovers Do”, “Makes Me Wonder”, “Maps”, “Don’t Wanna Know”, “Love Somebody”, “Moves Like Jagger”, and “Girls Like You”.

The night then concluded on a high note with a stellar performance of “Sugar” across a sea of excited screams and claps. Pink confetti filled the huge arena as the song came to an end, turning the stage into a sparkling backdrop as Maroon 5 made their bow bidding farewell to the crowd.

At one point in the whole show, Adam declared his excitement towards playing at the sold-out show, going so far as calling Filipinos the best singers and the loudest crowd the band has played for. Should this mean a secured stop on their next tour in the coming years, one thing’s certain, the Philippines will always be ready for one more night of performances from Maroon 5.
