Seiko Marks 60 Years of Dive Watch Legacy With Three New Prospex Releases
Vintage looks, deep-sea grit, and modern-day muscle. What more could you ask for?
To celebrate six decades since the release of Japan’s first diver’s watch, Seiko is launching three new additions to its Prospex line—each one paying tribute to the brand’s underwater legacy. First released in 1965, Seiko’s diver’s watches have become a cornerstone of the brand’s identity, known for their durability, legibility, and performance under pressure.
Leading the anniversary lineup is the Marinemaster SLA081, a professional-grade dive watch that blends archival design with modern materials. Inspired by the deep sea, the dial features a rich gradient and textured surface that captures the look of ocean depths. Built for serious use, the watch is rated to 600 meters and will even accompany JAMSTEC researchers on Arctic missions next year.
The other two models—SPB511 and SPB509—reinterpret classic Seiko divers from the '60s in a sleeker, more wearable package. One comes with a silver dial inspired by the brand’s original 1965 release, while the other features a striking blue dial and a GMT hand for travelers. Both are built for adventure, rated to 300 meters, and come with updated clasps for on-the-fly adjustments.
The SLA081 will be limited to 600 pieces and drops in July 2025. The SPB511 and SPB509 will each have 6,000 units available, arriving a month earlier in June. All three will be available at Seiko Boutiques and select retailers worldwide.
