Starring in the latest Zalando campaign,&nbsp;L'OFFICIEL&nbsp;met with Luka Sabbat to talk fashion and projects with his brand, Marking Distance.

L'OFFICIEL: What is your relationship with fashion?
<a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/portraits/clark-sabbat-fashion-designer-interview-luka-sabbat-father" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Luka Sabbat</a>: It has always been a part of my life. Beyond just a hobby, it is also a lifestyle that I grew up with.
LO: What is your first fashion memory?
LS: When my mother worked for Alexandre de Betak&nbsp;[a specialist in fashion events, best known for the fashion shows he has been organizing for several decades, editor's note&nbsp;]. I remember being backstage, walking among the models when I was just a child.
LO: What does your style say about you?
LS: My style is in line with who I am. It represents my taste in fashion, music, lifestyle&hellip; It&rsquo;s very personal to me, and says a lot about me. Style is deeply rooted in the community, whether it&rsquo;s music, film, or subcultures like punk or goth. It&rsquo;s a way of saying &ldquo;This is who I am&rdquo; before you even talk to someone.
LO: How has your multicultural upbringing in New York and Paris influenced your daily fashion choices?
LS: Growing up in these two multicultural cities really shaped my style. In Paris, you see a mix of cultures&mdash;African, Vietnamese, Armenian, Algerian&mdash;mixing streetwear and couture. New York is also a melting pot, so I was exposed to a lot of different styles. All of that information got into my brain, and it shows in the way I dress today.
LO: You are one of the protagonists of the latest Zalando campaign. What do you share with the brand?
LS: I like the fact that Zalando offers a wide choice of brands on their site, and from an Elon point of view, fashion is interesting when you dare to mix pieces, from different designers. Zalando's range is so wide that you can have fun, and that's what I like to do on a daily basis!
LO: How did your collaboration with Zalando go?
LK: This is the first time I went to Bulgaria to bring this campaign to life. I was impressed because it was quite a big production, almost like a movie.
LO: The campaign is called "What do I wear?". And you, what do you wear and how do you dress on a daily basis?
LS: I like to keep it simple, but with a little attention to detail. Take my outfit today, I'm wearing custom denim, a hockey jersey and combat boots. Nothing too flashy per se: jeans, a t-shirt and boots, but in my own way.
LO: In your opinion, how do societal norms and cultural context influence how people answer the question &ldquo;What do I wear?&rdquo;?
LS: It&rsquo;s very personal and subjective. Some people may be anti-establishment and make that their identity, while others will follow trends closely and adapt their looks with pieces. For me, style is influenced by the community&nbsp;[to which the individual belongs]&nbsp;and while it may evolve over time, its core principles remain.
LO: If you had to choose just one piece from your wardrobe?
LS: It&rsquo;s not easy!&nbsp;(Laughs)&nbsp;Definitely a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.instagram.com/marking.distance?igsh=MTl3dmQwM280ZHdhYw==" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Marking Distance</a>&nbsp;leather jacket, a brand co-created with James Pierce.
LO: What is your favorite brand?
LS: Marking Distance!&nbsp;(Laughs)
