Miu Miu x New Balance 574 Collaboration Reimagines the Past

First shown on the Spring/Summer 2022 runway, fashion brand Miu Miu, and sneaker brand New Balance come together for a reinvention of the New Balance 574. As part of the new Basic Instincts collection, Miu Miu looks to rework this classic shoe in a new, fashionable way.

The Basic Instincts collection by Miuccia Prada, the head designer and founder of Miu Miu, embodies a modern spin on classic garments. Most notable for its reworking of work pants to mini skirts, the collection aims to share a carefree and ambitious spirit through its raw-edged designs, and alternations of classic pieces into something new.

Its desire for reworking the existing shines through in the Miu Miu x New Balance 574. Taking a shoe made for the purpose of comfort and affordability, Miu Miu is bringing the working class mindset to high fashion. The distressed detailing of the outer body adds a touch of wear in an intentional way. These shoes serve as an example that reliability and comfort will withstand the test of time, but do not have to be disregarded to maintain the creative and high-class standards of the fashion world. Stepping away from the traditional grey coloring, Miu Miu's 574 comes in white, khaki, and denim blue colorways.
