Novel Collaborates With Guava Sketches for Month-Long Exhibition
The still-evolving space will be up for viewing until July 22, 2023.
Novel, the up-and-coming brand founded by young British-Filipino designer Prince Padilla, presents a collaboration with concept store Guava Sketches as its first introduction into the Philippine fashion retail market. A large space on the third floor of Greenbelt 5 has been built to celebrate this launch and will be up until July 22, 2023.
"The body of work we have created in collaboration with Guava Sketches is a proposal to a modern Filipino wardrobe," says Padilla. "The collection offers familiar silhouettes and archetypal garments, but elevated through construction and materiality."
"Every single piece is made by myself, in my studio, using deadstock fabrics and materials," Padille shares. "[I make everything in] low quantities...each piece has subtle differences [from one another] and are therefore one-off."
The month long exhibition will be a constantly evolving space, with new pieces being added on a daily basis. "It is important to see this exhibition as not the final step, but as the first step, and an evolving one."
