There are many things to look forward to in this issue, especially since it&rsquo;s the month we celebrate two years of L&rsquo;Officiel Philippines. Anniversary notes are always nostalgic, hinged between new digits and reforms, and also because we&rsquo;re not quite ready to let go of the year that has been. While I&rsquo;m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that another year for the magazine has indeed whizzed by, it&rsquo;s also scary to think that as an independent publication, we are, again, holding on to another year of trying to pull the business of a magazine amid the ongoing saga of print&rsquo;s decline. On a lighter note, to reach this point is a miracle and axiomatic among people who still hold a lot of interest and faith in magazines, all while exploring digital opportunities where resources can be steered.&nbsp;

Gracing the three covers of the anniversary issue are personalities who represent the importance of having an extraordinary edge to stand out in a perpetually competitive market. Pia Wurtzbach, who has built a regal image as the queen she is, eagerly expresses her interest in collaborating with L'Officiel. We discover how her past, present, and future shape her vision of making a mark in the world. Having an edge could also be ephemeral, made for the fleeting moments of life, like how Kim Jones always seeks out new things. From working in a bank in Australia and getting a certification to teach yoga to covering shows in the fashion capitals of Europe and wrapping up her first film, the cover star shares her own idea of transformation and how she&rsquo;s internalizing this to get a headstart on various industries. Lastly, MINGYU of SEVENTEEN establishes himself as a force to be reckoned with not just in the realm of K-pop but also on the global fashion stage as an ambassador for Louis Vuitton and Cartier. Contrasting his fiery presence on stage as part of the hip-hop unit of the group, the K-pop star entertains us with his stories as the resident repairman, cleaner, and cook among his band of brothers.

In this issue, we take the lead in emphasizing the importance of effective dialogue starting with Geof Gonzales&rsquo; collection Numbing, where the drapes and textiles of the pieces instill messages about people&rsquo;s disregard for social and systemic abuse. After five years of not making clothes, the designer does not aim to profit from fashion but instead uses it as a tool to make statements. Our discussions also include the latest trends in beauty and fashion like celebrating Karl Lagerfeld&rsquo;s legacy and putting Gliiico, the Filipino-Japanese band reshaping Tokyo&rsquo;s alternative music scene, on our radar. More importantly, we aim to create an intersection between beauty and mental health inspired by Lui Cata&ntilde;eda&rsquo;s trans journey through her hair story. From tackling experimental fashion to self-expressive art, our Anniversary Issue is all about breaking barriers.
