I'M ALUMNI  ROSENTHAL, ANA, ELLA

Each of them have fond stories to tell about their time at the Istituto Marangoni. Tee, a fashion designer specializing in custom bridalwear, especially likes that the school highlighted the importance of navigating both fashion&rsquo;s artistry and its business side: &ldquo;Istituto Marangoni [helps address] true-to-life industry demands. I gravitated towards tackling that realistic aspect, especially since I had already intended to set up my own atelier upon my return to Manila&nbsp;after&nbsp;my studies.&rdquo;

On the other hand, Palomo is now local activewear label Our Recess&rsquo; brand manager following internships at Tod&rsquo;s and Roger Vivier, plus a stint managing specialty accounts for Giorgio Armani. She thanks the school for broadening her perspective on the luxury industry. &ldquo;With Istituto Marangoni, I had the chance to see the luxury fashion industry as a whole, to have an in-depth understanding of how the industry works and a view of every slice of it.&rdquo;

&ldquo;My time at Istituto Marangoni trained me to work with international partners, which proved to be helpful when I joined Noble House as the brand manager of Versace, which I was tasked to lead the grand opening of in the Philippines,&rdquo; Fortun meanwhile muses. &ldquo;I think being placed in an international setting like Istituto Marangoni helped jumpstart my confidence; it taught me how to best present the Philippines as a strong business leader in fashion, while always thinking quickly on my feet when it came to the science of buying and merchandising at Fashion Weeks in Milan and Paris.&rdquo;

Here, L&rsquo;Officiel Philippines sits down with the thriving trio to talk a little more about their experiences at Istituto Marangoni and why they&rsquo;d recommend enrollment to aspiring fashion professionals.

<h5>How did studying at Istituto Marangoni contribute to the success of your career in fashion?</h5>
Rosenthal: &ldquo;Istituto Marangoni gave me the strong insight and consumer understanding [I needed] to really make my label work realistically in the Manila scene. I value that IM really aims to hone the business element of fashion, which is so crucial for the creative element of the work we do to succeed.
&ldquo;On the business&nbsp;front, their&nbsp;fashion business courses have been beneficial for students to get a more globalized point of view [to apply] in their home countries. On the design end of it, IM has given us all the opportunity to see what it takes to create a realistic label with a consumer in mind. I particularly value the times when we were granted access to both larger and startup fashion houses to see how one can be compared to the other, to see the advantages and challenges each present.&rdquo;

<h5>Most valuable experience at Istituto Marangoni?</h5>
Ana: &ldquo;At the time that I was searching for schools, Istituto Marangoni was one of the few that offered the Luxury Brand Management masters program. I wanted to be in the luxury fashion industry and I knew both the school and the program would help open up opportunities for me. Within the course, we were exposed to the different aspects of the fashion industry: courses included Design and Product Development, Economics, PR and Marketing, Supply Chain Operations, and even Creatives (which meant a lot of Adobe classes). After the program, I was able to work at big fashion houses such as Jenny Packham, Tod&rsquo;s, Roger Vivier, and Giorgio Armani. I went from PR and marketing to wholesale and now I am the Brand Manager at Recess, a Philippine-based women&rsquo;s activewear startup, where I work&nbsp;across departments. I would say that the knowledge I gained from my master&rsquo;s degree combined with my experience in the international luxury fashion industry prepared me well for my current job. Having that kind of exposure helped me gain new perspectives on my habits, routines, ideas, and beliefs; I learned how to navigate through different cultures and work with a diverse pool of peers.&rdquo;

<h6>Would you recommend enrolling at&nbsp;Istituto&nbsp;Marangoni to aspiring fashion professionals?</h6>
Ella: &ldquo;Definitely. There are many other wonderful fashion schools all over the world, but an edge that Istituto Marangoni has is that it has a very deep-rooted Career Services department that guides students towards their next step after graduation: finding that perfect internship. In some instances, the recruiters from different companies even visit the school to do on-site interviews, which makes being a student on campus even more interesting! I had the greatest pleasure of doing an interview with Lanvin (during the reign of the late, great Alber Elbaz) and it pushed me to do my very first interview in French. I ended up doing a short showroom internship with Gareth Pugh during the Fall/Winter 2014 season, and a 6-month internship with Karla Otto Paris, a favorite experience that saw me handling shows with the multinational PR company. It threw me into fashion week shows for Couture and Spring/Summer 2015, opening my eyes to the back-end world of proper seating and handling of press samples with brands like Iris van Herpen, Ulyana Sergeenko, John Galliano, Viktor &amp; Rolf, and many more. I really do have Istituto Marangoni to thank for giving me those opportunities. If not for [the school], I wouldn't have found long-lasting friendships with my fellow interns and great relationships with my former bosses.&rdquo;
