DOXA Launches Its Timepieces in the Philippines
The Swiss watch brand calls for an adventure.
Throughout the globe and across generations of divers and adventurers, DOXA watches have steadfastly established themselves as the benchmark for diving timepieces. Their unwavering commitment to innovation has significantly enhanced the safety of both professional and recreational divers. On September 20th, the renowned Swiss watchmaker DOXA made its highly anticipated debut in the Philippines, in collaboration with their esteemed partner, Watchworks.
DOXA CEO Jan Edöcs, who was also present during its Philippine launch, is propelled by a strong belief in his brand's potential, and this conviction is mirrored in DOXA's commitment to its core vision: crafting dive watches. “We stay true to the past. The watches' functionality, the quality is there. Look at the design: DOXA doesn't try to please everyone. We stay in the water or we stay around the water,” shares Edöcs.
DOXA's renowned legacy is rooted in its groundbreaking innovation dating back to 1967, when the brand introduced its inaugural divers' watch, firmly grounded in functionality. In their relentless pursuit of excellence, divers embarked on missions to explore Lake Neuchatel, conducting practical experiments that encompassed a diverse range of colors. Amidst the vast, deep blue expanse of the ocean, one color notably emerged as the standout choice: orange. This brilliant hue demonstrated exceptional foresight, providing divers with unparalleled visibility and enabling them to effortlessly read the time, even in the darkest depths of the sea. DOXA's dedication to functionality and innovation continues to shine brightly, solidifying its position as a pioneering force in the realm of diving watches.
As the brand upholds its commitment to functionality, a principle that Edöcs believes provides abundant room for innovation, DOXA enthusiastically embraces it, catering to the preferences of both divers and diving enthusiasts. Edöcs elaborates: “You can work on sizes, you can work on diameters, you can play with material...we can choose ceramic, we can choose carbon and fibre. But still, what we [prioritize] is to stay loyal to the demand of our market, and we stay loyal to offering watches for a very [reasonable] retail price,” he adds.
Edöcs believes that DOXA appeals to Filipinos because it embodies the spirit of enjoying life, signifies a connection with water that resonates throughout the entire country, and represents vibrant aspects of life through its colorful designs. “And, at the same time, you have the right watch for either the afternoon or for the evening. You can use it with purpose. Also, for next year, there will be a collection even more dedicated to the Asian markets, especially for the Philippines.” Edöcs shares.
