More than just hitting high notes, Jolianne sees music as something beyond technical mastery. For her, singing isn&rsquo;t just about precision, it&rsquo;s also about storytelling, using sound to convey emotions that words alone can&rsquo;t. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s empowering to know that I can use my voice to express myself in a way that is entirely my own,&rdquo; she shares. That sense of ownership over her craftsmanship is something she&rsquo;s nurtured for years, shaped by the music that filled her childhood home.
With a mother who once sang professionally, Jolianne was introduced early on to the vocal prowess of Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion. Meanwhile, her father gravitated toward folk, filling the house with Simon &amp; Garfunkel, Bread, and The Beatles. The contrast between R&amp;B-pop&rsquo;s vocal intricacies and folk&rsquo;s raw storytelling left a lasting impression on her. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m heavily influenced by both,&rdquo; she says. &ldquo;I try to marry those elements in my music.&rdquo;

Her entry into the industry had lighthearted beginnings. She joined The Voice Kids not because she had her sights set on stardom, but because she had a thing for a contestant from the previous season. However, somewhere between the rehearsals and the stage lights, something clicked. Being on that stage, singing in front of an audience, she realized&mdash;this was what she wanted to do.
She has since grown into an artist who not only sings but also writes music that she believes in. Her songwriting process is fluid and instinctive, often beginning with melodies she hums out of nowhere. &ldquo;Freestyling melodies feels raw and instinctive &mdash; it&rsquo;s like the sound comes before the thoughts, and that honesty shapes everything that follows.&rdquo;
Lyrically, she finds inspiration everywhere, from conversations and books to passing thoughts, but she believes the most powerful songs come from a place of honesty. For her, songwriting is also a way to process emotions and give voice to experiences that might otherwise remain unspoken. &ldquo;I still think that inspiration is most potent when you write from your own lived truths,&rdquo; she shares.
Jolianne also recognizes the unique challenges that come with being a woman in music. &ldquo;Women in music are always held to a different standard,&rdquo; she says. &ldquo;We have to be extra careful, work extra hard to get the same results, and constantly reinvent ourselves.&rdquo; Despite the industry&rsquo;s male-dominated landscape, she finds strength in the women around her&mdash;from her mother, who first introduced her to music, to the fellow female artists who have become her biggest supporters. &ldquo;The community that we women in music have with each other is so special, and that&rsquo;s the reason why I get to push on and keep doing what I do,&rdquo; she reflects.

In an industry that thrives on urgency &mdash; chasing trends, climbing charts, and moving at breakneck speed, she encourages listeners to embrace their own pace. &ldquo;I want people to understand that everyone&rsquo;s journey unfolds in its own time,&rdquo; she reflects. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s important not to measure ours against someone else&rsquo;s.&rdquo;
